Jan Frohlich claims Men’s Singles crown in 2013 I Mercosul International Series – Badminton news
Men’s Singles campaigner Jan Frohlich of Czech Republic proved himself unbeatable in the final round of I Mercosul International Series and claimed the top spot on the victory stand on June 2, 2013.
This grand finale saw him swinging arms against a higher ranked shuttler Misha Zilberman and this encounter remained in full swing for 40 minutes in the local badminton arena of Iguazu, Brazil.
The Czech player employed an unbeatable strategy in both segments of the showdown and sealed a splendid straight-set win with an impressive result of 21-15 and 21-16.
On the other hand, the Israeli campaigner had to face a woeful exit despite putting up a commendable show.
In the opening game, Jan Frohlich played aggressive badminton in the establishing rallies and gained a significant advantage on the points table. He bagged many valuable points in a row and put his challenger under huge pressure.
He looked in the prime touch just before the interval as he prevailed in few back-to-back rallies and piled up a mountainous figure of 11.
The second half of set was full of drama as the Israeli campaigner showed some spark and challenged his rival in all areas of the game. This time, Zilberman played with great precision and levelled the score in the third quarter of the set.
He was in a respectable position when few consecutive mistakes jeopardised his stakes. His opponent did not give him even a single chance to come back and swept the table with 21-15 total.
The first set win proved a real booster for Jan Frohlich as he kept his competitor grounded for most part of the following game. He raised his chances of success by ruling the court in preliminary stage and then doubled the trouble for his challenger by
putting a convincing margin of 11 before interval.
After the mid-game break, he lost focus for a short span of time and this allowed Zilberman to move ahead on the points table.
However, the Czech campaigner managed to reinstate his dominance when it mattered and claimed the crown with an overwhelming score of 21-16.
