Jan Frohlich enters Men’s Singles quarter-final at Maldives International Badminton Challenge
Jan Frohlich, a talented shuttler from Czech Republic, stamped his superiority and grabbed his place into Men’s Singles quarter-final after defeating Pamodha Kaushika Hettiarachchi of Sri Lanka at Maldives International Badminton Challenge 2012 on Thursday, May 31, in Maldives.
The second seeded shuttler Frohlich, who has been playing tremendous badminton throughout the Maldives International, continued his killing run and overpowered his Sri Lankan rival in an emphatic fashion.
The higher ranked Frohlich showed his elite skills in the court while competing against Pamodha and emerged as the winner by ending the contest in two games with a huge difference of the score board.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Pamodha could not live up to expectations as he did not play his normal game against his higher ranked rival and lost the match in just 32 minutes without taking any set.
The in-form Frohlich started his dominating play in the opening points of first set and showed no mercy to his rival while remaining positive.
He was in full swing as he missed no chance in building up a considerable lead on the score board.
Until the one-minute interval in the opening set, Frohlich was leading the game with a comfortable margin on the board.
After the interval, Pamodha showed a little resistance in the court by playing attacking badminton but failed to remain consistent as his rival took over the control again.
Frohlich played superb badminton with impressive speed at the concluding part of first game and took it easily with a margin of 21-14.
In the second game, the second seeded Frohlich continued dictating the pace of rallies and moved his rival in all corners. He did not lose his control over the pace of rallies and established a superb gap until the break.
After the one-minute interval, the impressive Frohlich executed powerful smashes to maintain his upper hand over Pamodha.
He was calm and positive in the court and won the set impressively with a huge difference of 21-13.
Frohlich overpowered Pamodha in a sensational fashion by a huge 21-14 and 21-13 difference on the score board.
