Jan O Jorgensen tames Vladimir Ivanov en route to pre quarter-finals – Denmark Open Update

Men’s Singles expert Jan O Jorgensen relished full benefits of the home ground and crowd to claim his first victory in Yonex Denmark Open in Odense on Wednesday, October 17, 2012.
World Number 14 shuttler employed all of his experience against Vladimir Ivanov and wrapped this showdown in just two games by registering significant figures of 21-16 and 21-18.
This 30-minute battle attracted a decent number of local badminton lovers and they were entertained with a splendid show of skills by the native shuttler.
Jan O Jorgensen played with authoritative approach throughout this encounter and maintained the upper hand until the final moments.
Meanwhile, the Russian campaigner made every effort to rise on his toes but he could not hit the mark in both games and crashed out of this Premier Super Series.
The opening game set the overall tempo of match as the Danish player did not wait for the right moment and launched a brisk attack.
He prevailed in a couple of establishing rallies and put his challenger under huge pressure. He bagged four consecutive points after 3-2 total and mounted pressure by registering 7-2 margin.
Though, Vladimir showed some spark just before the interval and reached to a respectable score position but he could not stop his higher ranked competitor from putting a notable figure of 11 on the board.
After the mid-game break, Jan O Jorgensen picked up some pace and widened the gap in third quarter of the set.
He placed an indomitable total of 17-8 and then blew away his rival with a staggering knock of 21-16.
The second set was filled with great sensation as the Russian player showed a transformed character in the beginning and made a notable difference.
Vladimir enjoyed the upper hand in most part of the game but then a couple of unforced errors triggered the collapse.
In first half of the set, Vladimir gained an early advantage with 11-7 score position but he failed to go with same flow in later part of the game.
The Danish campaigner did not miss this opportunity and sealed a splendid win with 21-18 margin.
Now the real challenge awaits him in pre quarter-finals as he is scheduled to meet Kenichi Tago of Japan.
