what involvement did he have in his historical setting

  1. Not much is known about Jan Vermeer except that he ran a tavern. The only historical importance I can think of is that his paintings show how people dressed at the time.  


  2. Historical involvement? Ah, I'm not sure. He enjoyed portraying the lower third class in his paintings. Perhaps his town was having a tough financial time?
