Jan Vertonghen: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 Eindhoven are stronger than last season – Dutch Eredivisie news
Ajax Amsterdam’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-Strootman-c20775 have certainly strengthened PSV Eindhoven and they have become a stronger unit than last term.
Vertonghen is a product of the Amsterdam giants fabled youth academy and started his professional career in the summer of 2006. However, the central defender has remained an integral part of the Amsterdammers’ back-line for the past three seasons.
The 24-year-old has expressed his eagerness for the upcoming match and has clearly indicated that it will be a tough encounter.
“I think that it will be a great game. A bit like the match at home against Twente last term when the two best teams of the league met”, Vertonghen was quoted as saying on the club's official website.
The highly-rated defender then went on to reveal that the Eindhoven giants have always been a strong side, but they have emerged this season stronger than last term.
“PSV always have a good team and they are stronger than last season. The triangle of Toivonen-Mertens-Wijnaldum is probably their most dangerous weapon and they can cause us some problems”, Vertonghen added.
Nonetheless, the central defender is optimistic about securing a point at the least in the upcoming away fixture.
“I'm quite positive that we can get a good result though as long as we manage to keep those three quiet”, Vertonghen concluded.
The Amsterdammers will travel to Eindhoven to battle against PSV at Philips Stadion on Sunday, September 18. Vertonghen would be hoping that his side stage an impressive show this time around and secure maximum points.
