http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814, the 25-year-old defender, could still be on his way to English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur, his agent revealed.
The Spurs began talks with Ajax for the defender a few weeks ago when English manager Harry Redknapp was still in charge at the club. After Redknapp was sacked, it was expected the talks would fall apart but that does not seem to be the case as made clear
by Vertonghen’s agent.

favorites to sign him.
Along with Ajax and Tottenham Hotspur’s inability to agree on a transfer fee, Redknapp’s unexpected sacking has thought to cause doubts for the player regarding a move to the London club. However, the player’s agent Mustapha Nakhli revealed that was not
the case.
According to Vertonghen’s representative it was not important who was the manager at the club, since the club’s history and ambitions more than made up for the fact that they were currently without someone in charge at the hot seat.
Nakhli said in an interview:
“Nothing has changed at all. He is coming to Tottenham for the club and not for the manager. Managers come and go. Of course Jan is sorry that Harry Redknapp is no longer there but he is going for the club.
We have a good relationship with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Levy. He wants the deal to happen and there is a good atmosphere (between us).”
Nakhli disclosed they had a good understanding with club chairman Daniel Levy, who seemed determined for the move to go through. If that continued to be the case in the upcoming days then it was highly likely that a move would take place.
He continued:
“Yes. I know where I want to go and I think it is clear to everybody.
I am a big fan of the Premier League. It is almost the only competition I watch on TV and for me it is the best competition in the world.”
