The Belgian stopper has indicated that his side could be planning to sell him in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Ajax Amsterdam central defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814, has revealed that his side could sell him in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The highly-rated centre-back has been plying his trade at Amsterdam Arena since the start of the 2006/07 season. The 24-year-old has thus far represented the Amsterdammers in 139 matches and has managed to add his name to the score-sheet on 18 occasions.
The Belgian stopper’s performances in the past couple of seasons have remained impressive. He has been booked only five times so far this term, which clearly showcases his precise tackling abilities on the pitch.
His impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, as a host of elite European clubs have been taking keen interest in signing the 24-year-old. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have all expressed their interest.
Bayern Munich, AC Milan and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 are also believed to be chasing the Belgian stopper in the upcoming summer transfer market.
Vertonghen has revealed that he has heard about a new contract, but insisted that the club management has not contacted him officially.
“There is talk of a contract extension, but not much has been said. Perhaps Ajax will find it to be a good thing when I leave, I don't know. But I think that in the future I could have a very good transfer”, the Belgian International said while talking to
the media.
Although reports were indicating that the highly-rated centre-back would be leaving his side in the ongoing January transfer window, the Belgian stopper mooted all the speculation and insisted that he will not leave the Amsterdammers half-way through the
season.
Vertonghen has an ongoing contract that will keep him at Amsterdam Arena until the end of the 2012/13 campaign. Reports indicate that the Amsterdammers management would let go of their prized asset in the summer transfer window should an offer in the region
of 12 million Euros comes in.
