Jan Vesely, Chris Singleton - Six potential players on Toronto Raptor’s Radar: NBA Draft (Part-1)
As a result of the National Basketball Association lottery, the Toronto Raptors got the fifth overall pick to be utilized in the draft that will take place on 23rd of June. This means that the Duke’s point guard Kyrie
Irving and Arizona’s small forward Derrick Williams will already be drafted without a doubt before the Raptors make their selection.
The mystery man Enes Kanter from Turkey who got a chance to play the basketball finally after 13 months might still drop down to the Number 5 on the board. However the power forward, who also plays as centre won’t be joining Toronto
as Kanter skipped out on interview with the Raptor’s team official who wanted to know the 19-year-old star better.
Although the Raptors might not get a chance to consider the top prospects in this years’ draft but there are still a number of young players who carries the talent to become the best in the league as they progress with their career
in NBA.
Here are a number of reasons Toronto Raptors fans should stay positive when the team move on to draft with the fifth pick overall.
Small forward Jan Vesely, 6 ft 11 in
The big Athletic forward Jan Vesely is incredibly instrumental with his jump shots and from beyond the arc. As a result of his huge physique 6 ft 11 in in the age of 21, Vesely can easily rupture the defence of the team and is
a big threat for the opposition when he enters the paint.
Even though Jan needs to improve his post game if he has to play as power forward at the NBA level however considering Raptors need for a small forward, the big man will be a fruitful option for the team to provide further depth
in the line-up. His agility and flawless scoring ability from the 3-point range will strengthen Raptors offensive play which they have not received for quite a while. Vesely also has the ability to provide fireworks in the crunch time. Now it’s up to the team
to decide whether Jan is the answer for Toronto Raptors.
Small Forward Chris Singleton, 6 ft 9 in
Florida State’s small forward Chris Singleton is one of the best perimeter defenders among the potential rookies in this years’ draft. The 6ft 9 in young player has the talent to support his team massively on both the offensive
and defensive sides of the court. Singleton is agile, versatile and a good mid range jumper.
Chris’ one weakness is the inconsistent shooting from the long distance however the Raptors need a players who can dominate all over the court. Raptors will keep on struggling if they don’t improve their defence as they are quite
repulsive defensively. Considering toughness and rebounding, Chris’ addition will have a great impact on the teams defence. On the other hand, the small forwards presence will infuse confidence in the team which will support their key players DeMar DeRozan
and Ed Davis. Chris will alleviate some pressure from the duo by keeping the score board ticking and at the same time stimulate the defensive strategy.
