The 51-year-old tactician insisted that his side deserved to win against John Lammers’ side on Eredivisie match-day 28 and expressed optimism about finishing in the top half of the table.

Jan Wouters, the Utreg head coach, was pleased with his side’s performance and insisted that they deserved to win against the relegation threatened side.
“This was definitely a deserving victory. We had eleven good opportunities though we failed to convert all of them. We dominated proceedings in the opening half despite conceding an unlucky goal”, Wouters was quoted as saying to Voetbal International.
The Dutch trainer went on to praise his side’s efforts to come back from a goal down to bag all three points at the end of 90 minutes.
“We started the second-half well and created chances. But Excelsior scored another. After going down 2-1, everyone played impressively and managed to claim a win at the end. I am happy with the three points and the boys deserve a great compliment”, Wouters
concluded.
The home side commenced proceedings brightly and took the lead in the 22nd minute through Mike van der Hoorn. However, the Kralingers managed to restore parity eleven minutes later through Samuel Scheimann, and both sides went into the half-time
break level on terms.
The Utreg resumed brightly after the break and created some decent goalscoring opportunities but failed to hit the back of the net. The visiting side benefited from the hosts’ missed opportunities and went ahead at the hour-mark through Roland Alberg.
However, Van den Hoorn’s second of the evening levelled the score-line in the 75th minute. Thomas Oar added his name to the score-sheet a minute before the full time whistle to bag all three points for the home side with a 3-2 win.
All three points ensured the Utreg move eight points clear of the danger zone, four points adrift of the last UEFA Europa League play-offs spot.
