The former Ajax Amsterdam coach has called on the fans to support his side when they take on John Lammers’ men at home on Eredivisie match-day 28.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Utrecht-c39237 head coach, Jan Wouters, has urged his side to put in their best performance against the relegation threatened SBV Excelsior and bag all three points. The two sides will meet at Galgenwaard Stadion on Friday, March 30.
The Excelsior outfit is currently placed 17th in the league table. They have managed to bag only three points from a possible of 15 in their last five Eredivisie encounters.
Wouters, who took over the managerial position from Erwin Koeman at the Utreg in October 2011, has revealed that his side will not be satisfied with anything less than three points against the struggling Kralingers.
“A win is all that counts against Excelsior. That's why the motto is 'win against Excelsior'. That's the only thing to do. Given our position in the rankings, we must win. That means we must start the game full of effort and put a lot of pressure on the
ball”, the 51-year-old tactican was quoted as saying to the media.
The Dutch trainer not only urged his side to perform impressively, but has also called the fans to support his side at Galgenwaard.
“I therefore call on the public in the Galgenwaard to stand behind us. That way, we can really use the home advantage. At this stage of the competition we must see the public and players whip each other up. "The match against Excelsior is perhaps the most
significant match so far”, Wouters concluded.
The Utreg are currently occupying the 13th spot in the league table, five points clear of the danger zone and a mammoth seven points adrift of the last Europa League play-offs spot.
The outfit from Utrecht have performed erratically this term, and their recent run of form is also not admirable with only one to their name in the last five league fixtures.
