Jana Pittman, Phil King part ways before London Olympics 2012
Jana Pittman, who has won the world championship for hurdles and is now preparing to take part in the London 2012 Olympic Games, has recently parted ways with her coach Phil King.
The decision was taken keeping the upcoming Olympic Games in mind and the need for Pittman to train better and more efficiently.
Pittman is an Australian athlete whose expertise lie in the 400 metre run as well as the 400 metre hurdle events. She has been able to achieve the honour of being a world champion twice.
Pittman expressed herself in the following manner regarding her decision to part ways from her coach, “I am incredibly grateful for the time and effort that Phil has dedicated to me over the years, but it is time for me to take ownership and more control
of my program. I have been in elite sport now for over 15 years and along the way have had some of the world's best coaches support and educate me on the discipline of 400 hurdles. It is with this vast amount of knowledge and experience that I now feel it
is time for me to take a new direction in my training.”
Pittman has not yet made it to the Olympic Games as she awaits the qualification championship that will give her the opportunity to show off her skills at the Games this year. The 29-year-old athlete took the decision to part ways with her long time mentor
in order to gain more control over her training which would not give the opportunity to become more focused. However, the two did not part ways unpleasantly as it was a mutually agreed decision between the swimmer and the coach.
The Olympic Games are scheduled to commence from the July 27 and last until August 12. London got the opportunity to host the Olympic Games for the third time as it made a successful bid back in July of the year 2006. The other cities that were interested
in staging the Games in 2012 were Moscow, New York City, Madrid as well as Paris.
