Janardana Burns pockets Men’s 400m freestyle gold – Speedo Junior National Championships
Janardana Burns of Mission Viejo Nadadores pocketed gold medal of the Men’s 400m freestyle on day three of the 2012 Speedo Junior National Championships at Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis on Wednesday, August 15.
Burns qualified into the playoff as strongest swimmer for gold medal. He faced tough competition from his following swimmer throughout the event but with his alluring efforts, he managed to outperform him over the finishing end for first position.
He stayed half a body length ahead of his closest challenger and touched the wall with a timing of 3 minutes and 56.54 seconds for the crown of the event.
The gold medallist was followed by Brock Turner of Dayton Raiders, who was 0.39 seconds apart and finished second in the event by producing a time of 3 minutes and 56.93 seconds.
Turner was followed by James Yoder of Stingrays-GA, who remained 1.59 seconds slower from his former finisher and touched the wall with a timing of 3 minutes and 58.52 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Samuel Smiddy of AK Sharks-FG, who remained nearly half a second apart and settled on the finishing end for fourth position with a timing of 3 minutes and 59.07 seconds.
Fifth position of the discipline was obtained by Cameron Stitt of Tualatin Hills Swim Team, who was 0.75 seconds slower and clocked a timing of 3 minutes and 59.82 seconds.
Stitt was chased by Lance Rutkin of Swim Fort Lauderdale, who remained 1.11 seconds slower and clocked an effort of 4 minutes and 00.93 seconds for sixth position.
Seventh finest spot of the event was obtained by Clifford Goertemiller of Dayton Raiders, who remained one and a half body length behind and clocked a time of 4 minutes and 02.59 seconds.
Goertemiller was traced by Martin Wallace of North Jeffco Swim Club, who stayed 1.70 seconds apart and posted a time of 4 minutes and 04.29 seconds for eighth position.
In addition, Burns was pleased with his performance in the freestyle discipline and said that he would work hard and try to achieve the same in upcoming swimming events.
