I thought she didn't get marry after George Boleyn but wikipedia says "The French ambassador Marillac and Ottwell Johnson are the only two sources for her death.[1] Marillac merely states that she gave a 'long discourse'; Johnson says that she apologised for her 'many sins' but never mentioned her late husband or sister-in-law."

It says "late husband" which means she had more than one.

  1. "late husband" is a husband who has died.

  2. Jane only married once and denounced her husband as having commited incest with his sister Anne. He was executed. She was a widow when she was executed and at that time therefore George was her "late" husband because he was dead. "Late" means "deceased". It does not mean that she had a husband "later".

  3. I would assume the reference is to George Boleyn, as the late husband and sister-in-law are mentioned together in the phrase. George was beheaded a couple of days before Anne Boleyn in May of 1536..

  4. If your hubby dies, it's your late hubby.
