Janko Tipsarevic beats Grigor Dimitrov; moves into quarterfinal – Legg Mason Tennis Classic 2011
Kicking off with the 3rd round of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic Thursday, 4thAugust, Janko Tipsarevic pulled his way to the win his quarterfinal seat against the Bulgarian, Grigor Dimitrov beating him in straight
sets. The Serbian secured his 3rd consecutive win on the hard Circuit at the William H.G. Fitzgerald Tennis Centre in Rock Creek Park.
What supposedly had to be a fight for survival, ended in just one hour and fifteen minutes of one way devastation by the Serbian against the 20-year-old Bulgarian. The 27-year-old world No.25 gave his young lower ranked opponent
a severe beating before he ended the match 6-4, 6-2.
Despite having an immensely experienced opponent, the 20-year-old gave it his best shot. In the past his performance has won him a worthy world ranking of world No.57. The young Bulgarian has been working on his serve and on his
returns. Improving then, his service accuracy was greater than that of Tipsarevic in the first set (55 percent).
The match started off with Tipsarevic serving first to open the match. In no time the 27-year-old gained advantage over the nervous youngster. Breaking him twice in the first set, the world No.25 then optimized his returns and
his defence not letting the Bulgarian a single moment to slip through. Totalling 30 points in set 1, Tipsarevic concluded with 18 service points and 12 returners bagging the set 6-4.
Continuing with the second set of the match, the dominator of the earlier set commanded again in next. With returns that were absolutely mesmerizing and an endless stamina, the 27-year-old blistered the Dimitrov in the 2nd set
as well. The Serbian had an astonishing 92 percent win on his first serves.
With a rock solid defence for himself, he broke his counterpart twice frustrating the youngster to play violent shots. This certainly did the trick. The sloppy 20-year-old could not hold on to his nerves and played with the net
rather his rival.
Finally, the world No.25 ended the show beating Dimitrov in the second set 6-2 and the match 6-4 and 6-2. In addition to 30 points in the first set, Tipsarevic concluded with 33 in the second totalling 63 points to his win.
The Serbian sits in the quarterfinal to face the mighty Frenchman, Gael Monfils. The two top seeds in the tournament will certainly bring up a startling show to watch as they go neck-to-neck for a semi-final berth.
