Janko Tipsarevic ousts David Nalbandian in the second round – Sony Ericsson Open 2012

Serbian number two, Janko Tipsarevic, tumbled over the Argentinean star, David Nalbandian, in straight sets at the Sony Ericsson Open 2012, a Masters 1000 event taking place on the hard courts in Miami, Florida. He summed up a 7-5, 6-3 success against the
world number 50 to secure a place in the third round on Friday.
The world number nine played his best tennis to outgun Nalbandian for the first time in their third meeting at this ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) event. After pocketing this one hour and 44-minute duel, Tipsarevic took revenge for his defeat
at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells last week against the Argentinean.
Tipsarevic, who made a title-round appearance at the Aircel Chennai Open in the first week of January, high-spiritedly entered the Tennis Center at Crandon Park and held his serve in the opening game. He drew the first blood in the third game and cruised
to a 3-1 lead. In spite of losing his edge in the very next game, he kept remaining serves until he got the breakthrough in the last game, ultimately sealing the opener with a 7-5 win.
The ninth seed lost his route in the following set and gifted away his serve in the opening game. However, he bounced back in the sixth game by snatching his break back. Tipsarevic kept remaining serves without facing any breakpoint and cashed in his second
break chance in the eighth game to clinch the set with a 6-3 score line.
Overall, the Serb hit eight aces and broke Nalbandian’s serve four times to pocket the match. He coughed more double faults finished the match with 75 points.
He will next duel the 18th seed, Alexandr Dolgopolov, who outclassed the Croatian qualifier, Antonio Veic, in straight sets to reach this spot. The Ukrainian lost his serve once but broke Veic’s serve three times to register a 6-4, 7-5 victory.
Earlier that day, Austraia’s Jurgen Melzer rallied past Robin Haase of Netherlands in three sets in almost two hours. The 22nd seed lost his form in the second set but outshined his rival in the decider to formulate a 7-6(2), 3-6, 6-4 score line.
