Janko Tipsarevic wants Hawk Eye at every court and each tournament – Tennis News
World number nine, Janko Tipsarevic, does not want any changes in actual rules of tennis but he believes that Hawk Eye technology should be installed at all the courts of every tournament on the ATP World Tour.
The Serbian thinks that some umpires are very good on the tour but some are not and wrong decisions by them disturb the momentum of players. Tipsarevic believes that every player should have chance to challenge the call of match
officials.
This is a not a new problem, as players from the past also used to disagree by the decision of the umpires but their decision was final. Hawk Eye technology was installed at many tournaments to deal with this problem but that issue
could not be resolved completely, as just centre courts have this technology with them, where top players play. Lower-ranked contestants, playing at the outer courts at most of the venue do not get this privilege.
When Tipsarevic was asked in a recent interview if wants any changes in actual rules of tennis, the Serbian replied, “I really like tennis as it is right now. I don’t see any rules which are worth changing.”
Though, the Serbian expressed that he wants the installation of Hawk Eye technology, “I know that this is very expensive, but I would somehow make sure that all courts have Hawk-Eye.”
The Belgrade, Serbia resident went on to say, "I’ve been at both ends of the sword. I’m a top-10 player now and I’ve played completely on the outside courts and I don’t feel that it’s fair that the players at the top, who play
on centre courts, have the benefit of having a privilege like Hawk-Eye on their matches while players on the outside courts, they don’t. People should look up to Indian Wells, which I think has eight or nine courts with Hawk-Eye."
Tipsarevic is playing the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in this week. He got the entry courtesy to Rafael Nadal’s withdrawal from the season ending championships. The Serbian is in group B with Roger Federer, David Ferrer and
Juan Martin Del Potro.
