Janko Tipsarevic wrecks Alex Bogomolov in the second round clash – BNP Paribas Masters 2011
World number 13, Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia, carries on with his impressive run of the season, defeating 35th ranked American competitor, Alex Bogomolov, in the second round of the BNP Paribas Masters, in Paris, France,
on Wednesday evening.
The 11th seed Serb literally faced no challenge in the entire matchup and rocketed away to victory in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0, taking less than an hour’s play to book a berth in the round of 16 of the ATP (Association
of Tennis Professionals) World Tour 1000 event. Bogomolov hung in the contest for merely 51 minutes of play before succumbing in the second set to end his voyage at the last Masters Series event of the current year.
It appeared a replication of the recent match between Tipsarevic and Bogomolov in the St. Petersburg  Open, when the Serb stood tall against the American in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1, in the semi-final clash. Tipsarevic bagged his
second ATP championship title of the running season a couple of weeks ago at the Moscow, Russia, and continued with his winning impetus in Wednesday’s matchup as well. He absolutely outclassed the unseeded American competitor, beating him in every segment
of the game to claim his 53rd victory of the year.
Being played on the indoor hard courts of Paris, France, the 27-year-old Serb dropped just one game in the entire matchup to drive Bogomolov out of the competition in the most authoritative manner. Although Tipsarevic delivered
only 56 per cent of his serve on target, the 11th seed secured 19 out of 22 points on it to come out as the winner. He converted six out of nine break points in the match and fired eight aces en route to victory in style.
The unseeded American utterly failed to register a single break point in the whole contest, squandering away two precious opportunities to finish on the losing side in the end. A total of 83 points were played in the match and
Tipsarevic clinched 57 out of those, with his American opponent lagging far behind at a mere 26.
Tipsarevic will meet the fifth seeded Czech opponent, Tomas Berdych, in the next round to battle it out for a quarter-final berth at the Paris Masters. Berdych received a bye to the second round and outclassed Fernando Verdasco
of Spain in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5, to make a place in the third round of the tournament.
