Janome 634d not working

Question

It was working just fine then the right needle broke. I replaced the needle, now it will not work. When you manually go to turn the k**b on the side and not use the foot, it will not turn. it locks up. When you open up the front area to take a look there is a pin on the right that moves up and down for the upper looper thread. Well it looks like to me it is no longer moving up and down properly and that is the reason the k**b on the side is not turning all the way. Does anyone know if this is something I can adjust myself or do I need to take it in?
