Jans-Ignacik/ Rosolska defeat Takao/ Tezuka in 1st round – Hansol Korea Open 2011
Number four seeded Polish team of Klaudia Jans-Ignacik with Alicja Rosolska defeated unseeded Japanese team of Erika Takao with Remi Tezuka in the doubles main draw match of the Hansol Korea Open 2011. The two squads battled it
out on the hard courts of Olympic Tennis Courts in Seoul, South Korea on the 19th of September 2011. After 54 minutes of play, the Polish duo (Jans-Ignacik and Rosolska) secured a straight set victory of 6-2, 6-1.
The first team to serve for the opening round was team Pole (Jans-Ignacik and Rosolska) both the teams won on their respective serves in the first three games rounding the score to 2-1.
However, in the fourth game the score had equalized at 2-2 and in the fifth game Jans-Ignacik and Rosolska held their serve and took a mini lead at 3-2.
During the sixth game the Polish pair broke Takao/ Tezuka for the first time and in the seventh they were leading with 5-2 by holding their serve.
Serving to stay in the set were the Japanese couple, while the Polish squad was looking to break them to win the set. During the game point Takao/ Tezuka’s forehand went wide and the Polish team won the break and the opening set.
Although, neither of the teams struck an ace, the Polish squad demonstrated a tremendous backhand and forehand performance. In addition, they had geometric precision and struck zero double faults while, the Japanese couple had
committed 2 double faults. Moreover, Jans-Ignacik and Rosolska had hit 79 percent of their first serves on target against the 71 percent of the Japanese duo.
Opening the second set was the Japanese team, and both the squads won on their respective serves to equalize the score at 1-1.
Upholding their form, the number four seeded players, Jans-Ignacik and Rosolska battered the Japanese in the second set from the start. Even though Takao/ Tezuka won her first service game, it was all they could manage since from
their onwards they never made it onto the scoreboard again.
The Japanese duo was broken thrice and was unable to break the Polish couple and eventually Takao/ Tezuka plummeted to a breadstick defeat as they were lagging in their performance.
The Poles saved all of their break points in the first set and also the second and converted five breakpoints in the match. As they clinched a total of 53 out of 90 points to seal their straight sets victory, they wrapped up the
match and secured a place in the second round of the event.
