Japan's Takuma Ueda and Kazushi Yamada progress in the German Open GP 2011
Japanese badminton players advanced in the tournament of German Open GP Gold 2011, by winning their first round matches of men’s singles today at Mulheim, Germany.
In the first round of the event, Takuma Ueda of Japan defeated Dmytro Zavadsky of Ukraine in a three set match. In another match of men’s singles, Kazushi Yamada from Japan crushed Ville Lang of Finland, in a straight sets fight.
In the first round fight of the event, Takuma was leading the opening game against Dmytro till the first half of the set, where the Japanese was leading by 21-8. The Ukrainian shuttler levelled the gap by making it 13-13. At this stage of the game, the Japanese
started to accelerate the pace of the game, and eventually won the set by a 21-18 difference.
The second game was completely reversed to the previous one, where the Ukrainian dominated the arena throughout the set, and won it by a clear difference of 21-15.
The third and final set was equal for both players till the score of 12-12, when the Japanese occupied the driving seat by increasing the pace of the strokes. Takuma established a decent lead and finished the set by a slight margin of 21-18. The match took
66 minutes of resilience from both sides involved. The final score of the match was 21-18, 15-21 and 21-18. Takuma will meet Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand in the second round of the German Open GP Gold 2011.
In another match of the men’s singles category, Kazuki Yamada of Japan defeated Ville Lang of Finland, in straight sets. The 48-minute-long match was an absolute thrill as both players remained toe-to-toe in the entire match. The opening set was won by the
Japanese after a close fight by a very tight margin of 23-21.
The second set contained highlights of the previous game. Both shuttlers put a great show from the start to the ending points of the second game. At the crucial stage of 21-21 score, Kazuki scored the remaining two points in a row and won the set by 23-21.
The final score was 23-21 and 23-21. Now the Japanese will be facing Sven Eric Kastens of Germany in the second round of the German Open GP Gold 2011.
