Japan Open 2012: Ratchanok Inthanon demolishes Jing Yi Tee in Women’s Singles round-of-16
Thailand’s Ratchanok Inthanon advanced into Women’s Singles quarter-final after showing a spectacular display of her elevated skills in the round-of-16 contest at the Yonex Japan Open 2012 on Thursday, September 20, at Tokyo, Japan.
Ratchanok, who is World Number 10 and third seed in Men’s Singles draw of the championship, played at her best and remained successful in crushing the un-seeded Jing Yi in a smashing manner.
The in-form Thai shuttler was in remarkable form as she played with impressive control and remained confident throughout the battle. She was maintained an upper hand over her Malaysian challenger and won the match in straight games with a one-sided margin
in just 32 minutes.
In the meanwhile, Jing Yi could not live up to the expectations as she found herself in all sorts of trouble while playing against her Thai rival. She could not cope up with the attacking play of her challenger and lost the battle easily without proving
her worth.
Ratchanok was at the best of her form as she freely played all of her shots without having any pressure of being a higher ranked player and remained in dominating position throughout the contest.
Jing Yi played superb badminton in opening set of the match and also managed a reasonable lead at the initial stage.
The Thai lady tried her best to overpower the pace of rallies but remained trailing behind on score board at 7-11 until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the Malaysian shuttler experienced a nightmare as she remained unable to score even a single point against her Thai opponent and committed many un-forced errors.
In the meanwhile, Ratchanok showed her class as she started to pick the bird early and from all areas and stunned everyone by taking 14 points in a row to end up the first set in a completely aggressive fashion with a stunning 21-11 score on the board.
In the second game, Ratchanok did not let Jing Yi to play dominating badminton in opening rallies as she remained fast and positive on court and managed to grab an 11-7 lead until the end of first half.
The impressive Thai shuttler played in the similar dominating fashion without letting her rival to get close on score board. She controlled the bird easily and pushed her rival in all corners.
Ratchanok dictated the pace of rallies in both corners of rear court area and also made her rival work hard to the well placed net shots. She remained successful in taking the second game with a spectacular margin of 21-10.
Ratchanok emerged as the winner in this Women’s Singles battle in an easy fashion with a crushing 21-11 and 21-10 score on the board.
