  1. I went to Japan.  I learned about the culture by getting videos and then speaking to Japanese students at my university.  First.  They LOVE Americans.  They are VERY into fashion.  They give a gift for EVERYTHING.  Bring things from the U.S. with English on them to give as gifts.  They'll love it.  They love people with blond hair and will sometimes stare at you on the train.  Be prepared to eat very little.  Cheap 3 bedroom is NOT possible.  Your living space will be the size of your closet.  Pack very little.  SERIOUSLY.  Also, when you get homesick, there is a place where many people speak English (Australians, British, Americans, Canadians)...I think it's called Shinjuku. You will want to know how to get there when you get sad.  You WILL get sad.  Many Japanese will want to practice their English with you.  Don't be afraid to correct them. They WANT to get better and will practice until they get it right.  Try getting a job doing something with English and teaching it.  I looked into getting a job teaching English to children.  It paid pretty well.

  2. Everyone in japan speaks mainly japanese. So either learn or you won't really be able to communicate with people. If you really have to don't look for a police officer look for students. Some are in international schools and are taught english.

  3. Wikipedia Japan.

  4. Some people on here haven't even been to Japan and saying they have. It's so obvious. First off if you don't know the language your screwed! Most Japanese do not even speak English. So it's the language first that you need to know. If you don't know it then you might as well stay where your at. By the way before coming down here to Japan make sure you have much respect! Where ever it is your from, we don't need those stupid Asian jokes and stereotypes. People trying to come down, but if we go to their country it's open season on the Asian jokes, bunch of B/S!!

  5. Someone earlier gave you inacurrate answers.                                  First. They LOVE Americans =( no we do not love American people, what a ignorant white American woman is she??) They are VERY into fashion =(yes many Japanese are into fashion). They give a gift for EVERYTHING= (no not for everything). Bring things from the U.S. with English on them to give as gifts= (No most things in Japan is better that in America, you know quality is much higher here, please don compare inferior American goods with Superior Japanese goods). They'll love it=( you can bring something with English on it, but you will find tons of such things here). They love people with blond hair and will sometimes stare at you on the train= (partially true, blonde hair with big boos is good, but not best, since they get old so early, like in late 20s ,  also even if a girl has a blonde hair they will not look at you if she is fat one, also some people might stare at you, because it is rare to see foreigner, someone might thinking where you came from but not becase they are interested). Be prepared to eat very little= ( YES AMERICANS SHOULD BE CAREFUL ABOUT AMOUNT THEY EAT) Cheap 3 bedroom is NOT possible= ( yes she is right!!!). Your living space will be the size of your closet= (many foreigners with English job do not have money, so you might end up living in very small apartment, if you do not like. more to local city of Japan, are you as rich as someone who can afford big apartment in Manhattan NYC??, if so you can lent good room). Pack very little. SERIOUSLY= (if she is not that fat, the room will be more spacious). Also, when you get homesick, there is a place where many people speak English (Australians, British, Americans, Canadians)...I think it's called Shinjuku= (not knowing Japanese culture and the language, many English speakers want to come here, I do not know why, the place is called Roppngi,  Shinjyuku is good city, but you will feel little  out of place). You will want to know how to get there when you get sad. You WILL get sad. Many Japanese will want to practice their English with you. Don't be afraid to correct them. They WANT to get better and will practice until they get it right= ( she is right many Japanese will use you as English teaching machine by talking to you), I know because I used to be. Try getting a job doing something with English and teaching it= (Teaching English is only job that is available for English teacher). I looked into getting a job teaching English to children. It paid pretty well.= (poor Japanese kids, they are tought by this fat American bad woman)

  6. >what's a high paying job?

High paying job is like doctor or lawyer.  But those are only for Japanese people who took special education.

There is NO job (high paying or low paying, whatever) for non-Japanese without college degree in Japan. You have to take at least college degree even to work as English teacher.
