In modern respect, the people of China and Japan act very similar. Governments aren't too similar, China has a strong communist party. Hm, I also remember they were similar in looseness of copyright laws (although Japan is starting to make them similar to America's). Clothing wise, its very popular in both countries to wear brand names, and a lot of western clothing... Note that a lot of the Chinese population harbors a bit of hate of the Japanese, despite the similarities.

Over the centuries those two countries have had a closer relationship with each other than with anyone else. Japan adopted Chinese writing techniques 1,500 years ago.  There have been close trade ties and there have been wars between them.  Japan invaded China in WWll. Both countries have had monarchies and feudal warlords.
