Japan bags third consecutive win at 2012 AVC Women’s Club Championship – Volleyball news
The 2012 AVC Women’s Club Volleyball Championship is underway with ten Asian teams in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
Japan’s Toray Arrowss is also on board alongside nine other teams. The Japanese team is placed in Pool A, where it has launched power on competitors during first three days of the tournament.
Toray Arrows (JPN) clashed with Iranian Giti Pasand Isfahan in the third match on Monday, April 23 and completed a winning streak of three matches. Earlier on, the Japanese ladies defeated the host Thailand and Vietnam in the first two matches of the AVC
Women’s Club Volleyball Championship.
The opening match of the tournament on Saturday created a lot of buzz on the scene. The Japanese team was challenged by the hosts Thailand. Despite having the competitive advantage of playing at familiar court and emotional support of 4,000 fans, the home
squad dropped the decision in five-set thriller.
Toray Arrows of Japan proved to be better in every aspect of the game and sent Chang of Thailand to its first loss in the tournament. The visiting team earned better status by posting 3-2 (27-25, 25-21, 14-25. 21-25, 15-11) on board. Success against Chang
helped the Japanese side to move 1-0 in the tournament.
In the next match on Sunday, the pumped-up Toray Arrows team clashed with Vietnam’s VTV Binh Dien Long An. Both teams had the similar record of 1-0 as Vietnam defeated Myanmar’s Asia World Women’s Volleyball Club in the tournament opener. Hence, the fans
expected a cracking fight between two winning sides in the second match.
Nevertheless, team Vietnam seemed to have lost its form in front of Japanese squad. The match covered its length in three sets, while Toray Arrows of Japan emerged successful. Japanese team posted 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-12) victory over Vietnam and improved
to 2-0 in the tournament.
On Day-3 of the tournament, Iranian Giti Pasand Isfahan came into competition with Japanese Toray Arrows. Both teams were undefeated in the tournament but one had to suffer the loss. The Japanese team played in its usual style and coupled strong offence
with solid defence, which forced the Iranian team to trail behind in the first set.
Toray Arrows successfully covered the length of first set with 9 points and kept the momentum going in the following set. The second stanza of the match also came successful for Toray Arrows and team attained a much better position in the match.
Iranian team used different tactics to overcome the resilient rival but failed to put up with heavy strike of volleys. Finally, the third set also slipped from their hand and Japan announced match victory with 3-0 record. The set scores of the match were
25-16, 25-17, 25-15. With victory against Iran, Toray Arrows improved to an overall record of 3-0 in the competition.
