Japan completes winning streak of four matches – 2012 AVC Women’s Club Volleyball Championship
Toray Arrows of Japan finished the first round of the 2012 AVC Women’s Club Volleyball Championship with a wonderful 4-0 record.
In the last match of first round on Tuesday, Toray Arrow went against Asia World of Myanmar. The opposite team was no match for Japanese squad and collapsed in just three sets. The match ended with the final score of 3-0 (25-10, 25-4, 25-9), while Toray
Arrows settled for victory.
The duo of Saki Minemura and Arisa Takada played an instrumental role in Japan’s success in the fourth match. Both of them produced superb hits, which devastate the defence of Asia World.
The Japanese ladies made a strong opening in the match. They served with accuracy and delivered shots with great precision. The Asia World could not stay in the way of killing spikes and deadly aces from Arrows. In addition to strong offence, the Japanese
squad influenced the Myanmar team with solid defence. Asia World seemed totally helpless in the first set and managed to score only four points. The first set turned out to be a total disaster for Asia World as Toray Arrow posted 25-10 win.
Toray Arrows was over the place in the next set as well. Nonetheless, the Myanmar players formed better combination and struggled to resist to the heavy strike of volleys from Japanese side. As they put some struggle, they managed to put some points on board
but still it was not enough to overcome resilient rival. Toray Arrows added quick points and extended its lead to 2-0. They claimed second set by sending 25-4 on board.
Third set also came successful for Toray Arrows as Asia World scored only nine points. Japanese ladies achieved the match points and completed the winning streak of four matches. They finished the opening round of the tournament in a perfect way and advanced
to the quarter-finals.
The Japanese team is tipped to do well in the Final Round. The team recently returned after winning the national Volleyball Premier League in Japan.
They kicked off the thrilling action of volleyball at 2012 AVC Women’s Volleyball Championship by defeating host Chang from Thailand. The opening match between Toray Arrows and Chang continued for five sets. The visiting Japanese squad defeated the hosts
by 3-2 ratio and in front of their supporters.
In the next match, Toray Arrows breezed past Vietnam’s VTV Binh Dien Long An. The pumped up Japanese team did not take long to score victory and finished the match in consecutive sets.
The Arrows further improved their winning record in the third match when they overpowered Giti Pasand Isfahan of Iran.
