Japan conquers Men’s 4x100m medley relay crown: Day six – 2011 World University Games
Day six of the 2011 World University Games ended with the impressive splash of Japanese swimmers in the medley relay final in Shenzhen, China, on Friday, August 19.
The final session of the meet conducted the Men’s 4x100m medley relay, where the squad of Japan hit the wall in 3 minutes and 35.02 seconds to win the gold medal on the podium. Japan squad was consisted of Ryosuke Irie, Ryo Tateishi, Masayuki Kishida and
Shinri Shioura. While speaking about the splash, Irie stated that they were really pleased and satisfied with their collective swim in the meet.
In the corresponding race, United States snared the silver medal on the podium by submitting a winning time of 3 minutes and 37.92 seconds. United States’ team was comprised of Rexford Tullius, George Klein, Timothy Phillips and James Feigen. Meanwhile,
New Zealand and Italy shared bronze medal in the platform by posting a matching time of 3 minutes and 38.75 seconds.
New Zealand’s quartet consisted of Gareth Kean, Glenn Snyders, Peter Kurt Bassett and Matthew Stanley, while Italy’s team comprised of Sebastiano Ranfagni, Mattia Pesce, Paolo Facchinelli and Luca Leonardi.
In the meantime, Russia rounded out the top five in a time of 3 minutes and 38.91 seconds. Russia swimming team comprised of Artem Dubovskoy, Stanislav Lakhtyukhov, Sergey Ivanov and Oleg Tikhobaev. In the corresponding splash, the team of Germany including
Philip Jan Glania, Marvin Philip Heintz, Johannes Neumann and Jan Konopka was placed sixth with an impressive time of 3 minutes and 39.02 seconds.
Additionally, Brazil earned seventh place honours in a time of 3 minutes and 41.29 seconds. Brazilian team consisted of Leonardo Fim, Junior Gomes, Marcos Macedo and Nicolas Oliveira. Last, but not the least, Canada settled eighth in the race with a time
of 3 minutes and 41.38 seconds. Canadian swimming team comprised of James Matthew Swanston, Anthony Richard Funk, Jamal Zackariah Chetrat and Dominique Martel Massie.
The winners were awarded medals and accolades due to their inspiring swims after the session’s completion.
