Japan defeats Pakistan by 3-2 in Pool C match of 16th Asian Men's Volleyball Championship
A Pool C match of the 16th Asian Men's Volleyball Championship took place on Thursday, September 22, between Pakistan and Japan in which the Japanese took out the Paksitan squad by 3-2. The tournament is currently being staged in Tehran, Iran at Azadi Hall
No. 1.
The contest between the two sides went on for five long and thrilling sets at the end of which Japan was celebrating their hard earned victory over the Pakistanis. After having lost the first set to the Japanese, the Pakistanis were able to step up their
game in the second set and put up an exciting display of volleyball skills that enabled them to equalise the match and also get a 2-1 lead by bagging the third frame of the game. The Japanese responded forcefully in the fourth set and went on to smother the
Pakistanis in the fifth. By the time the day was done, the final set scores stood at the following figures in favour of the Japanese: 25-20, 26-28, 21-25, 25-16 and 15-5.
Despite the fact that they lost the match, the attack of the Pakistani players was superior to that of the Japanese and it worked effectively to manipulate the defence of Japan.
The start of the first set saw the Japanese take the lead as they took advantage of the weak defence of the Pakistani players. However, the Japanese fell to making errors that brought the Pakistanis back into the game. However, the Japanese did not give
up and controlled their mistakes which finally gave them the first set at 25-20.
The loss of the opening set spurred the Pakistanis into action and they were able to start off strong in the second set. The Pakistanis were able to keep the Japanese at bay with their superior attacking skills. It was not until the final stages of the set
that the Japanese came level with their rivals at 24-24. Despite the tight situation, the Pakistanis held on and secured themselves a win at 28-26.
The third set of the match went fairly level with both the sides trying to gain dominance on the courts but it was the Pakistani players that were able to get the lead first. Soaring high on the confidence generated by winning the second set of the game,
the Pakistanis were able to sail smoothly towards another win at 25-21.
The fourth set of the match did not start off well for the Japanese as they fell to making service errors, however, the Japanese were able to stay in the game by increasing their offense and getting the fourth set at 25-16. After the Japanese had secured
the fourth set, it was not a tough job for them to make another win and seal the match at 15-5.
