The tall forward joined his new teammates earlier this week for the first time in training at GelreDome Stadion and has now put pen on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
Reports from Arnhem confirm that Japanese forward, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mike-Havenaar-c25700, has officially signed a contract with Vitesse Arnhem that will keep him at GelreDome Stadion until the summer of 2014.
The 24-year-old started his professional career at the start of the 2006 year with Yokohama F Marinos, but never really managed to cement his place in the Japanese outfit, making only 26 appearances during his four-season stay at the club.
In January 2010, the striker joined Ventforet Kofu and made headlines following his supreme performances upfront. Though the attacker netted an impressive 37 goals in 63 appearances, his goals were still not enough to save his side from relegation.
The Japanese forward joins compatriot http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michihiro-Yasuda-c25503 at GelreDome Stadion, who has been in Arnhem since the last season. The 24-year-old revealed that language will not be a problem while communicating with his new teammates, as he also speaks Dutch.
“I've known Michi since I was 16. I had some time to chat with the players. If I can't speak to them in Dutch, I'll speak to them in English. But if and where possible, I'll try to speak Dutch. I don't think it will be an inconvenience”, Havenaar said while
talking to the media.
Havenaar has been handed the number 14 jersey by head coach John van den, the same number worn by legendary Dutch footballer, Johan Cruyff. The 24-year-old revealed that he knows the importance of the number 14 jersey and will do his utmost to live up to
the expectations.
“I know it's a big number in Holland, and I just hope I can live up to it”, Havenaar concluded.
Occupying the sixth spot on the league table, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar. The arrival of Havenaar to GelreDome Stadion will certainly enhance the Arnhem outfit’s chances of finishing in the top five Eredivisie sides come
the end of the season, as they certainly seemed to lack fire power upfront in the first-half of the 2011/12 campaign.
