Japan 229 v Suriname 87 - Japan won by 142 runs
Suriname on Saturday, tasted Japan’s fury when they were beaten by 142 runs as they miserably failed to counter a daunting total of 229 amassed by their opponents in the ICC World Cricket League Division Eight Group B match, that was played at Faleata Oval No 2, Apia.
Suriname made their first mistake by choosing to field first as later in the day they saw their bowlers get shredded to bits and pieces by Japan.
Japanese openers J Shearer and NA Miyaji let their bats do all the talking, as they sliced and diced the opposing bowlers like expert Samurai http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861.
The two batsmen posted a stand of 105 that took the venom out of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Suriname-c3013’s bowling brigade, and finally YP Dayal earned his side their first wicket by getting Miyaji caught on 46.
Meanwhile, Miyaji’s partner was the next man to walk off the field as he was also dismissed by Dayal after jabbing 59 runs off 101 deliveries.
A Patmore and D Mee tried to craft another big partnership but could take the score to only 134 before Mee fell after hammering three runs.
It was then time for M Hanif http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 to come in the middle. The batsman exhibited impressive form as he smashed the bowlers while batting alongside Patmore.
With 198 on the board, Khan walked back to the pavilion after hammering a fiery knock of 41 off just 25 deliveries.
After giving such a massive batting performance, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Japan-c2928 were all set to defend the total they had posted on the board.
For Suriname it was a tough ask, but not impossible though. However, Japan refusing to give their opponents a breather, drew first blood with only seven runs on the board.
S Nakano was the first from Japan to strike as he dismissed Suriname opener TA Haley for nil, and on the last delivery of the same over, he struck again by sending the number-three batsman, YP Dayal back without allowing him to open his account.
It was just chaos for Surinam as failing to withstand the Japanese superiority, they crumbled in 36.2 overs on a total of 87 runs.
Nakano was outstanding with five wickets to his name, while his bowling colleague D Mee was second best with four wickets under his belt.
