  1. Ortho Bug B Gone Max.  I use it for Japanese Beetles and it works well.  Just re apply it every couple of weeks and the Beetles will stay off the plants.  If you try picking them off the plant you will never get them all because they hide in the strangest places.

  2. Go to your local hardware store and get some beetle traps. Put them on your property line. The beetles will go to the trap and off your rose tree.

  3. I agree with Girl, just a drop of dish detergent in a spray bottle fill with water and spray.

The traps just attract more and if we keep killing the bugs by using poison we are just making things worse.

I picked them off my roses, into hot soapy water. Try to make sure that if they fall to the ground that you pick those up too.

So far this year I haven't had many.

  4. I am having the same problem with my rose bushes. As soon as I would get a bud the Japanese beetles would attack it. I have heard both good and bad things about the traps, and i have dogs so chemicals are out of the questions. One other option that I had read about and have been doing is hand picking the little snots. Just go out in the evenings and pick them off and drop them in a bucket of soapy water, then spray your roses with  a mixture of the same (soap and water). Within 2 days I noticed a difference, and I actually have a roses right now.
