Japanese Fried Food?

Ok. I honestly have no idea what these things are called, and where I can get a recipe.

Anywhooo, in quite a few of the dramas I've watched, I've seen people eating these flat circular fried thingies that probably have about a 9 inch diameter... I have no idea what they are, but they look good. However, I'm not finding it on any of the searches I go on. Any help?

  1. Japanese Rice Cake, also know as Mochi.

  2. There is a dish called tonkatsu, its a a breaded piece of pork fried and then sliced and served with a thick soy based sauce, it's the only thing I can think of that could be of the size you describe. And they are good.

  3. I have never heard of Mochi being that big, there is an omelette like dish called Okinomiyaki, a omlet and pancake like dish with shredded cabbage, meats, fish cake and other thing in it like a pizza in shape but more like a crustless quiche in reality.

Here is a pic to see if I am on the right track, check the link

  4. Tempura.
