Japanese Grand Prix: Red Bull leads in Practice Session
Red Bull dominated the rally of Formula One cars once again. At the practice session this morning in Japan, the Austrian team was unbeatable as seen many times earlier also all through the season. The team driver, Sebastian Vettel led the caravan all through
the morning, packing at the first place as he cruised through his fastest lap in just 1:32.585.
The other Red Bull driver, Mark Webber was second fastest, ending only 0.048s behind his teammate. Webber currently tops the Drivers’ Championship with 202 points while Vettel has occupied the fourth place.
Meanwhile, McLaren had to greet an ill-fated morning. One of its drivers, Lewis Hamilton started off pretty fast but at the Turn 9, he ran too wide and off the track, finally embracing the tire wall which wrecked his car’s suspension completely. On the other
hand, Jenson Button also embraced a worse start at Suzuka as he ran wide in Degner 1.
The driver kept struggling all through till Degner 2 but poorly bounced his McLaren yet again over the kerbs while trying to gain control. Now, the team has a lot of work to be done before the cars could come out for second practice. Robert Kubica of Renault
was happy after the morning as he finished at third place followed by the glad Force India’s driver Adrian Sutil.
Moreover, Rubens Barrichello and Nico Hulkenberg finally made the Williams proud as they ended for 6th and 7th places respectively. The 8th place was occupied by Michael Schumacher as he took his Mercedes GP faster than expected,
having his best lap in 1m 33.739s just ahead of BMW Sauber's Nick Heidfeld.
The second Mercedes driver, Nico Rosberg was 10th fastest with 1:33.831s. After a tough week with the team and media, which debated on who is the no.1 or no. 2 driver of Ferrari, Felipe Massa ended his day at 11th place.
The other Ferrari driver and one of the strongest contenders for the World Championship this year, Fernando Alonso stopped at 13th place in 1m 34.169s. Kamui Kobayashi parked his second BMW Sauber at 14th place in his homeland while his fans expect to see
him doing better this weekend.
The second Renault driver, Vitaly Petrov marked the fifteenth place of the day followed by Tonio Liuzzi in the second Force India car. One of the other drivers who ran off the road, was Sebastien Buemi in Toro Rosso. However, the worst scenes of going down
the road were seen by his teammate, who repeated the same four times.
Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli parked their Lotuses at 19th and 21st places, with Timo Glock sandwiching between them in 1m 37.329s. The practice session was ended by Bruno Senna and Sakon Yamamoto, the two HRT men who settled for 23rd and
24th places, respectively.
