Japanese Kebabs?

On a recent break in Paris, I went to a Japanese resaurant for my dinner. My wuestion is related to one of the dishes we had- they were sort of kebabs, and I know you could get cheese, beef, chicken and salmon ones. I think in French they were Boulannes or something like that. Does anyone know what I mean, and if so, what are they called in English??

  1. I'm not 100% sure what you're talking about but I'm originally from Japan and I think you MIGHT be talking about yakitori.. which is the name for the chicken version.. this is traditional japanese kabobs and only come in chicken and veggies, no cheese in japanese dishes... but I'm sure the one in France was a bit westernized. Hope it helps! Look up yakitori and see if the picture matches what you had! =)

  2. I know the ones from Japan some are called yakitori, anyhting on a skewer ot stick in France or french is "en brocette".

When I worked in Japan, we used to buy ones from the street vendors, chicken, chicken livers, chicken tendons, potatos, quail eggs, shrimps, pork bits with green onions. In french boulannes is a chopped meat or meat paste/ball, they do that on skewers like doner kebab in the Middle East.
