Japanese Themed Room?

I'm going to be moving in a few months (thank goodness) and I get to redecorate my room however I want it and I thought it would be awesome to have a JAPANESE styled room. I'm fifteen so I don't want it to be sooo grown up that it looks like my moms room :/. Any ideas??!?!?

  1. I would paint your walls a dark burgundy with dark brown trimming, and you could paint Japanese characters on a wall, and get a Japanese rug you could hang up.

  2. Paint your walls white (or a slight off white) and use a lot of dark wood (for your bed frame, desk, etc.) Maybe you could have incense burning, or a Japanese candle. And you should add a straw carpet/flooring.

Do what looks good to you, and if you want it to look like your mom's room, keep it nice, simple and sophisticated.

  3. Reds, off whites, golds, throw pillows, wooden frames, cluttery but neat.

  4. You could try to get your floor to look like traditional Japanese tatami. And you can hang Japanese pics on your wall, like some of Mount Fuji (there are really great pics of it online) or some Japanese words, or simple kanji that mean something nice.
