Japanese alphabet?

i found a couple websites that explain the japanese alphabet and if i try to write my name it doesnt have the right sounds for it its really dumb please explain it to me and give me a website that actually works!please? thanks!

  1. In order to transliterate into Japanese, you have to know the SOUND of your name.  There is no website that can do that.


  2. There often isn't one correct way to write/pronounce non-Japanese names in Japanese. It all depends on how you pronounce it and how a Japanese person hears it.

    Sometimes both pronuciations are really close. Other times they sound completely different. Since it's Japanese, it's never going to sound exactly like it does in your native tongue. There are just some sounds in other languages that aren't made in Japanese. So, sometimes close is the best you can do.

    You can try this. Go to a Japanese language search engine: Yahoo, MSN, Google. Type in your name and search. Perhaps someone with the same or similar name has done something that has made them known in Japan. You can use that way of writing your name if you like.
