I have one, but I am afraid most people are thinking the wrong thing... I am not sure. In Estonia, the name is Jaapani tantsuhiir what should be Japanese dancing mouse in english but people seem to misunderstand that... So, who do YOU think a Japanese dancing mouse is? (here in estonia it is the most populer pet rodent and is perfectly healthy btw)

  1. is it different from a regular fancy mouse? all the pictures i came up with look like fancies.

  2. mate the mind boggles --- but if you are happy in your work --- i always say go for it .

good luck ( i might see one on a postcard sometime )

  3. I think it is a mouse that dance?

  4. It is called a "Waltzing" mouse in English.

And there is no way that a "Waltzing" mouse can be considered healthy because the very reason why they "dance" is due to a health disorder. They have vestibular and cochlear abnormalities of the ear.

Edited to add: "Waltzing" mice come from a derivative of Mus Wagneri, not M. Musculus  or the common house mouse (fancy mice come from our common house mouse). Mus Wagneri is a native to Asia.

The argument that "Waltzing" mice are healthy, can never be won. If it is not due to vestibular and cochlear abnormalities of the ear, then it is due to even more horrific reasons.

Dr. K. Kishi did extensive research on this matter, and he found that the "dancing" action of the mice came from confinement for untold centuries in small cages. These are not normal healthy mice and I personally would never own one.
