Japanese demon dog myth?

ive noticed that in multiple anime that all have some sort of demon dog there always controlled by the word sit. in Inuyasha, Tagomai only has to say sit and the demon dog Inuyasha crashes to the ground. its the same in the manga Nora, Kuzuma just says sit and the demon dog Nora crashes to the ground. ive also recently noticed in the anime Naruto that the seal that controlls the demon fox with in him has the english translation to the word sit.... why dose this word continue to show up?

  2. It's Kagome.. Not Tagomai.... and I guess it's just because that's a common command for dogs.
