Japanese female pairs rule the courts in pre quarter-final stage of Australian Open GP Gold
The all Women’s Doubles teams of Japan marched into the quarter-finals of Australian Open GP Gold as they ruled the courts in second round on April 5, 2012.
Top seeded Japanese pair of Miyuki Maeda-Satoko Suetsuna, the twosome of Shizuka Matsuo-Mami Naito and the duo of Misaki Matsutomo-Ayaka Takahashi ensured the country’s supremacy in the Championship.
The splendid victory saga was started by the World Number 21 couple Misaki Matsutomo-Ayaka Takahashi as they stamped their opponents Vivian Hoo-Khe Wei in pre quarter-final tussle.
Japanese girls displayed their superior badminton craft and registered a straight-set victory over their Malaysian opponents. They took just 39 minutes to read the final score of 21-15 and 21-11 in their favour.
The next was the pair of Shizuka Matsuo and Mami Naito who doubled their joy by overpowering the Thai female duo of Savitree Amitrapai-Nichaon Jindapon in just two games.
There coordination was superb as the Thai challengers could not rise to the occasion and knelt down after 37 minutes when scoreboard flashed the distinctive figures of 21-10 and 21-12.
The last chapter of this victory saga was even more impressive as the World Number five duo of Miyuki Maeda-Satoko Suetsuna proved their worth in a second round tussle with Duanganong Aroonkesorn-Kunchala Voravichitchaikul from Thailand.
Top seeded Japanese couple sealed their straight set victory in 46 minutes by registering final figures 21-16 and 21-6 in their favour.
Thai couple resisted a bit in the opening game but they could not match their rival’s skills in most part of the match.
Now the premium Japanese duo will face a low ranked Indonesian couple of Vita Marissa-Nadya Melati in quarter-final while the other two pairs set-up a clash of the compatriots in second last round of the event.
Japan will bank on their three victorious female pairs for the glory in the Australian Open and if the World Number six duo of Shizuka Matsuo-Mami Naito surpasses the compatriot pair Misaki-Ayaka there is fair chances of an All-Japanese final as both top
ranked female couples will meet relatively low ranked challengers in semi-finals of the event.
