Before prom this year, me and my friends are going to eat at a Japanese resturaunt. I have never ate Japanese food except for sushi, which I hate. What would you recommend I try or what are some of your favorites?

  1. i recommend an ONIGIRI (OMUSUBI).

ONIGIRI is a rise ball. and it is salt flavor.

may be it seems a hamburger in japan.

that has a special some food inside.

go to Japanese restaurant and order it ,and so just tasting it please !

    hurry up!!!

  2. i bet the guy above me is half retarded

  3. udon noodles

  4. may be try eel on the rice which I love to eat

  5. Eat meat or noodles. Ask whats in the noodles because there are so many noodle types to choose from.

Tonkatsu (breaded deep fried pork or chicken)-its like cutlet but japanese stype because of the bread crumbs coating.

    Teriyaki Chicken or Teriyaki Beef

    Yakitori Beef or Chicken

Tempura Shrimp or Vegetables (shrimp or vegetables deep fried in a batter)

    Ramen Noodles (soup w/noodles)

    Yakisoba (stir fried noodles)

Theres more but I don't like the smell of certain soups like misu or broth of the bonito or udon but that's me although I loved it when I was growing up but now not really because of my sense of taste & smell plus the sodium & msg content I don't like in my food.

  6. It depends what kind of food you usually like to eat. Not all of the suggested foods may be on the menu but better to learn as much as possible for ideas. Personally I don't eat meat anymore but if you love meat then I'd recommend a dish based around your favorite meat, especially if you like breaded and fried foods then go with what others have suggested: tempura (usually vegetables and shrimp), -katsu (whatever is before katsu is what has been fried, usually it's pork called tonkatsu), or other meats not breaded/fried such as chicken/beef dishes. If you like rice then you can load up on that. If you like soups, there are many noodle dishes. Ramen is based on pork broth. Miso soup is usually served with most meals (soybean broth). Udon and soba dishes are fatter noodles than ramen noodles and the broth can differ. Fried noodles are usually soba noodles mixed with meat and vegetables. Fried rice is one of my favorites from just about any country and Japanese style is #1 or #2 in the world imho. Gyoza is also known as wontons or potstickers. It's usually pork and vegetables inside. Personally I love the stuff but I suppose not everyone does.

I think many not used to Asian food may dislike tofu and even though I'm half Japanese I never ate it until a couple years ago and now I eat it constantly because it's a very versatile food. Non-Japanese tend to think sushi is raw fish, but actually that's sashimi. Sushi is rice rolls but some may not like it for use of seaweed. (Seaweed is awesome but if you don't like it, do try the Korean dried seaweed that's been seasoned with oil--it made my friend who hated seaweed love seaweed.) Seaweed is used in other dishes as there are many varieties of it and it may be in your soup. Another ingredient in Japanese cooking used often: fish products such as in the broth or flakes on top. If you don't like it, say you don't want dashi and be really clear about that 'cos they tend to put it anyway.

  7. The best thing if your not a sushi fan aside from the person who answer on the gyoza which is very good is to look for a japanese steak house or a hibachi house. Although they can be a little pricey sometimes they tend to be very interactive and very good.

  8. oh h**l yeah go to one of the japanese places that do tricks its entertaining and tastey if you have a rusans then it would be good to go there id get the steak mmmmmm now i want me sum japanese

  9. Udon (noodles), tempura (deep fried, battered shrimp and veggies), fried rice, yakisoba (fried noodles), gyoza (same thing as potstickers...lots of options.

Sample other sushi rolls. It doesn't have to be raw fish. If you like crab salad and avocado, order the CA roll or the cucumber roll (rice and cucumber).

Enjoy! You just made me hungry:D

  10. Try some gyoza and yakitori. I'm sure that you will like both of them.

  11. Shashimi (raw fish) is excellent.

Wasabi (a green midly-hot horseradish type flavouring)

    Miso Soup

Tempura (fish and vegetables in batter and deep-fried)

Yakiniku (BBQ beef, fish and vegetables)

Nabe  (Hot Pot style -- Beef)

Yakitori ( Beef and vegetables on wooden skewers and BBQ)
