  1. Japanese - Better gas milage, better reliability, many are very cheap, economical, easy to fix, easy to find parts, mainstream cars.

    American - Big gas guzzlers.

  2. If you buy Japanese, I would buy a Honda because they are the most performance oriented out of all the Asian Companies. They manage to mix performance with reliability, and style.

I really do not like Toyota because their designs are lame and their cars really feel disconnected to the road.

In terms of American Car Companies, I would really look at the GM Vehicles. Their new stuff like the CTS, Enclave, G8, Astra, Acadia, Silverado, and Tahoe Hybrid are all really cool cars. Plus, they all come with very good warranties which is always nice to have.

Car brands I would avoid are the entire Daimler Group and Kia. I would avoid Daimler is because they have such bad resale values, and because owner satisfaction is very low. Reliability is also very hit or miss.

I would avoid Kia because they are just not made well and do not perform too well in high-speed collisions.

Kia's were originally built as beater cars and I am afraid that if Kia doesn't change that image soon, it will never change.

    Good Luck

  3. Research what you like in both American & Foreign makes. I have owned both over the years and found that many American cars are high in quality. I have owned Cadillac's, Ford's, Pontiac's that I have been pleased with. I have also owned VW's, BMW's, Merdedes, Honda, Toyota, Lexus. The most unreliable were the Chrysler products and the Mercedes products.

Ford is quite good in quality now with their Fusion, Edge,MKZ,MKX  & Focus. Buick recently tied Lexus for the #1 brand in overall quality according to the JD Power surveys. Buy what you like but there are a number of quality American products out there now to choose from.

  4. definitely japanese.

  5. Just recently bought a Honda Civic.  Great on gas, small and compact.  FYI, 75% of the parts were made in the US.  Whereas I've heard that some Chevrolet parts were being made in Korea now...

  6. if you want the car to last, go Japanese

  7. japanese cars

they are reliable, last long, and usually have the best resale value

american car companies are struggling a lot nowadays. try to think of the reasons why

and i dont know about canada but the us is gonig crazy with gas prices so fuel efficient japanese cars would be my pick

  8. japanese cars will be good- new or used. cheaper, better fuel efficiency, car parts can be replaced, and they are reliable. american companies have come out with better cars recently, but toyota, honda, and the rest are miles ahead of GM, ford, daimler-chrysler, etc. if you want to buy american and are looking for something affordable (family size) try ford's focus or chevy malibu

  9. buy American, my god you wonder why the U.S is going into a recession? thinking like yours is what is crapping out your whole countries manufacturing sector. There are several American made cars that are just as efficient as the Japanese counterpart. My brother just bought a new Chevrolet Malibu and he loves it.
