Japanese players made prominent appearances on the ITTF Junior Boys Ranking: Table Tennis News
Japanese players made to the top of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) standing after their scintillating performance at the Junior French Open in France. Masaki Yoshida, a 16-year old player moved to the top seed of the ITTF Junior Boys rankings. The ranking was issued today by the ITTF officials.
Masaki Yoshida was the runners-up at the French Open. He was the winner earlier in the Swedish Open. He is the top player with 2125 points on the list. Japanese players have made prominent place in the top seeds of the Junior Boys rankings over a short span of time.
In the final of the French Open it was his compatriot, Maharu Yoshimura, who has also made to the second spot in the ranking with 1800. In the Swedish Open he was one of the semi-finalists.
There was also progress for Asuka Sakai, Koki Niwa and Yuto Muramatsu in the ranking. Asuka Sakai is on the fifth seed with 1425 points. He was the runner-up at Sweden and the semi-finalist of the French Open. The runner-up at Guam, Koki Niwa and t he quarter-finalist at Mtez moved to the 10th seed with 1225 points. Whereas Yuto Muramatsu in at the twelfth seed.
Yuto Muramatsu shares the ranking with the Mohammed Amin Hente, with 1100 points the winner of the Iraq ITTF Junior Circuit tournament.
There are four players on the new ranking, which is a clear sign of a bright future for the Japanese table tennis on the senior circuit in future. Koki Niwa is the top player on the World Junior Ranking, but is the fourth on the ITTF Junior Boys’ Standings. He will not be eligible for the ITTF Junior Circuit Finals going to be held in Puerto Rico in January 2012.
Indian player Harmeet Desai is also among the players who is in lime-light on the new ranking. Harmeet won the Austrian Junior Open and with 1350 points and is on the six seed. Following him is Tristan Flore from France who was the winner of the Italian open held earlier this year.
The former number one player of the ITTF ranking, Tamas Lakatos from Hungary, drops down to the number three position with 1560 points, due to his absence in the French Junior and Cadet Open.
