Japanese superstar pitcher Yu Darvish up for grabs -MLB Update
As the old free agent market was beginning to dry up with all the top talent being sucked away by big names teams like Albert Pujols, C.J. Wilson picked up by the Los Angeles Angels. Major League Baseball (MLB) introduced another big name player that will
now be up for grabs as the second phase of free agent signing kicks off.
Japanese superstar player, Yu Darvish, will now be posted in the market by his team according to his agent, Don Nomura, who tweeted via social media website, Twitter, to announce the news about the player being up for bids by his team in the Japan baseball
league, the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters.
Chicago Cubs general manager, Jed Hoyer, expressed some interest in his tone when hearing the news about Darvish, but did not explicitly announce that his club would be putting up any bids for the player.
"It's nice there is some resolution and he will be posted," Cubs GM, Jed Hoyer, said. "Clubs have been waiting to find out. There's been a lot of rumors and tweets and different things. It's nice its official and they can move the process forward."
Hoyer also added that when he was asked whether the limited time left to sign free agents would affect the players’ price in any way or not, he replied in the negative and termed it more than sufficient to pick up something decent.
Toronto Blue Jays are also expected to put up a bid for the player in order to compensate for the players they have lost this offseason to other teams, but general manager, Alex Anthopoulos, is not ready to make that official.
“I would never talk about that publicly,” Blue Jays General Manager, Alex Anthopoulos, said. “Obviously, he is a very talented pitcher, and I think it’s good for baseball if he comes to pitch here, but I would not comment any more than that.”
In other surprising news, the Los Angeles Angels, who are notorious to have made a number of star acquisitions over the offseason so far, are reported to have began talks in order to grab the Japanese pitcher, which could make the team even more powerful
than it already is.
