  1. Its called An-Dango. Its the ones filled with red adzuki bean paste.

  2. Sorry person who answered this question before, but... it's not Dango. xD Dango don't always have filling and are rice balls on a skewer, covered in a sweet syrupy sauce (and there are different variations of it)...

    *now talking to the asker*

    What you're describing is Ohagi!

There is a pretty picture and a short description of it here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/madeline/26...

And a not as pretty picture, but better description of it here: http://japanesefood.about.com/cs/dessert...

On the contrary, this is what Dango looks like: http://japanesefood.about.com/od/japanes...

Now I want some Ohagi! lol. I'll have to settle for Mochi though... it's all we have at home right now. Then again, they are basically the same, just switched inside out xD

Good luck buying your Ohagi! ^___^ So yummy~~

  3. not sure I've seen it with red bean paste on the outside. However, the ones with red bean paste on the inside are called mochi if I'm not mistaking.
