Japanese vs Chinese, which language is easier to learn?

i am interested in learning at least one asian language. i would prefer Japanese. but i want to know which one easier to learn. not only speaking but also reading and writing.

Japanese will be easier to learn, in terms of vebal & written.

pronunciation = extremely difficult. each sound has 4 tones. each tone has different meaning.

writing = only one simplified character system

japanese

pronunciation = easy

writing = there're 2 letter systems and 1 complicated character system. used in same sentence. you need to understand all 3 systems to read and write.
