Japan’s Takuma Ueda surges into Men’s Singles second round of the 2011 Canada Open Grand Prix
Japan’s Takuma Ueda surged into the Men’s Singles second round after crushing Canada’s Nyl Yakura in their first round battle at the 2011 Canada Open Grand Prix, in Richmond DC, Canada, on Wednesday, July 20.
Ueda played smart badminton with the highest level of precision and accuracy to finish-off the match in straight-sets by spending just 25 minutes in the court. Despite his lower ranking and un-seeded position in the tournament, the Japanese proved that he
belongs to the superior class of the game as he is one of the major contenders for the title.
Japan has improved a lot in all categories of the game, as Japanese shuttlers are rapidly catching up with dominating nations like China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Korea and Denmark. Ueda displayed his top-class skills in the match against the Canadian, who completely
failed to play well in the whole encounter.
The start of the opening set was quite interesting, where the Japanese progressed with an incredible pace without showing any mercy to his opponent, who was struggling hard to match with the speed of the game. Ueda remained calm but quick in the opening
half and reached 11-4, at the end of the interval.
After getting back into the court, the Japanese worked really well and maintained the huge gap by playing flawless badminton. Yakura was lacking the impressive touch in his game throughout the opening set, as he failed to play positive badminton. Ueda won
the opening game in tremendous fashion by a stunning difference of 21-7, in just 14 minutes.
In the second game of the match, the Canadian injected power into his strokes in the starting points but he failed to target the scoring spots, as his challenger was not leaving any room for him to place his shots. Ueda remained quite focused and missed
no opportunity to score points.
The Japanese shuttler clinched the second set with a surprising result of 21-5, in just 11 minutes. The ending result of this 25-minute one-sided two-set match was 21-7 and 21-5.
