Question:

Japantown/Chinatown in Paris?

I leave for Paris in two days-- I wanted to know about what I've heard of as the "japan district" and Paris's (two?) Chinatowns. Are they worthwhile for a visit? I enjoyed San Franciso's Chinatown... I have a love for, primarily, kimono, but am interested by many oriental decorations and candy... Is it worth going? All I can find is commenting on their food. I won't be eating there, my meal trip has already been planned, so what do these areas have in regards to shops, and how feasible is it to get there? Thanks!

  1. There is a Chinatown in Paris, I think it's near Place d'Italie, but its mostly restaurants as far as I remember... Hope this can help

  2. Yes there are two Chinatowns in Paris. One is in the southeast of the city and the other in the area known as Belleville in the north.

Frankly, unless you've exhausted all the other things to do in Paris it would be a waste of time to visit either.

For an American to travel halfway around the world to go to Paris and then take the time to go to something they can find in the United States (with much higher prices than in the states) doesn't make much sense.

EDIT: You'd rather go to Chinatown in San Francisco than the Musee D'Orsay? That's simply absurd. I'm Chinese and I wouldn't make that choice.

  3. Paris has a huge chinese population and yes its worth visiting the china town.. http://www.rendezvousfrance.com/chine.ht...

    Take care,
