Jaque Fourie says Springboks ready despite tough Pool - Rugby Union
Jaque Fourie, who plays at fullback and centre’s position for South Africa, has said that his side is well prepared to compete with the toughest group during Rugby World Cup 2011. The Springboks have been placed in Pool D which consists of tough teams like
Fiji, Wales, Samoa and Namibia. The rugby experts have titled the group as ‘Pool of Death’ as each team has got the ability to qualify for the quarter-final stages. Fourie told the media on September 6 that his side was not wary of having tough contenders
at an early stage.
However, Fourie was happy to face strong opponents during the pool matches and thinks that it will help them to prepare for the quarter-stages right from the beginning. In his conversation with journalists regarding their future line of action, Fourie said
that each and every team placed in their group will be given due respect.
He added that, “We've got Wales, we've got Fiji, Samoa and not to throw away Namibia, so all those four games; we take it very seriously. But after that we've got to take it game by game; that's how we want to approach this. It's a very tough group, but
I think that will prepare us for the quarter-finals and going onwards.”
While, describing the excitement of his side for RWC, Fourie said that, “It feels pretty similar. There's the same vibe around the team and we know the guys are excited and have got that quiet belief deep inside of going all the way. Just like we did in
2007.”
Apart from Namibia every team of Pool D has played the quarter-final stages during past stalls of Rugby World Cups. The Boks are the defending champs and Jaque Fourie was part of the title winning side. He has scored 30 tries in his eight-year long career
for South Africa and his side has won 24 times when he scored a try in the match. Fourie has won 62 test caps for his side and will participate in third world cup for Springboks during this year’s global showpiece.
