Jarmila Gajdosova breezes past Xinyun Han to reach the 2nd round – WANLIMA Women’s Open 2011
Second seeded Australian Jarmila Gajdosova swat past Chinese Xinyun Han with a breadstick at the WANLIMA Open 2011, a WTA International Tour event held on the outdoor hard courts in Guangzhou, China. She earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory
over the 21-year-old Chinese to secure a second round spot on Tuesday.
World number 34, Gajdosova outmuscled the Chinese, ranked 213 spots below her, in under an hour in front of a pessimist crowd on their first meeting. She had now confidently advanced into the second round of this International
Women’s Open.
The higher ranked Aussie swift past Han after displaying brilliant skills and abilities. She smoothly entered the court and got the desiderated break in the opening game to take a 1-0 lead. Gajdosova broke again in the fifth game
to go 4-1 up. Regardless of losing the following game, she bagged in last two games to clinch the opening set with a 6-2 win.
She manifested a similar first serve share of 45 percent but registered a spectacular 78 percent win on it. Gajdosova failed to save the only breakpoint came across but converted three out of eight breakpoint opportunities to her
advantage.
The blooming Aussie went berserk in the final set and after unleashing powerful groundstrokes, she reeled off first four games in a row before Han could hold on. She then held last two games to earn a breadstick in less than half
an hour.
Gajdosova clobbered a lower first serve share of 63 percent as compared to Chinese’s 73 percent but earned a fabulous 80 percent win on it. She faced zero breakpoint and converted three out of four breakpoint chances to her advantage
to win comfortably.
The Aussie will next face Luxembourgian Mandy Minella who laboured past Chinese qualifier Shuai Zhang with a 2-6, 7-6(5), 6-0 victory.
Minella took two hours and fourteen minutes to overpower the qualifier on their first face-to-face. 25-year-old Luxembourgian saved eight out of thirteen breakpoints faced and converted six out of eight breakpoint chances to her
advantage to set-up clash with the second seed.
