Jarno Trulli: Points are ‘realistic’ for the race – Formula 1 Update
Formula 1 Lotus-Renault driver Jarno Trulli has said that obtaining points is realistic for each team of the sport, as it is important towards obtaining the year’s title.
He also went on to mention that a team’s ability to score points in a race is possible if they bring some upgrades to their cars.
Trulli had a power steering issue in the start of the season, however he could not manage his good run against the strong competitors of Formula 1. He believes that fixing this issue that has overwhelmed and ruined his start to the 2011 season is ‘key’ to
taking a positive step forward to his success.
Lotus introduced an impressive ‘T128’ car with more improvements over the 2010 bodywork. However, Trulli was busy, struggled with the technical issues during his races that hindered his positive ability to feel what his car is doing on the grid.
The team solved several issues and made some significant improvements for the coming races. Lotus has planned to deliver some updates to their new machine in the Spanish Grand Prix. The Italian driver hopes that those updates will allow him to put in a good
performance and show his best run on the grid.
Jarno said, "I am still struggling quite a lot with the power steering. We have the issue with it, which is affecting me a lot and I am not able to feel it - which doesn't help when there are also problems with the tyres.”
He went on to add, "I hope I can get this sorted soon. The team is working on this more than the aero updates, as it really is for me the main issue. I can't feel the car; I can't drive it. But once the power steering is fixed then I think I can give the
team everything they want in terms of feedback."
Lotus has had a very tough start to the season. In the Australian Grand Prix, the 36-years-old driver tried to finish in his best place, but due to some technical issue in his car, he could only complete at the thirteenth position for his team. His team-mate
Heikki Kovalainen retired from the race, as his car experienced a water leakage issue on the track.
During the Malaysian Grand Prix, Trulli retired from the race with some technical issues with the car’s clutch.
The team took part in the Chinese Grand Prix with hopes of getting some supportive points. However, both drivers had some technical issues with their cars and completed their run without winning a single point for their efforts.
Trulli further commented that there are still some difficulties in the data, but he hopes that the team will fix them for the Turkish Grand Prix, scheduled to take place on May 8, 2011.
