Jarno Trulli demands better results from Team Lotus
Jarno Trulli became a part of Lotus Racing (now rebranded Team Lotus) in 2010 and was unfortunately off to a disastrous start as both Jarno and teammate Heikki Kovalainen were unable to secure a single point throughout the 2010
F1 championship.
However, it was expected at first that the team might give solid performances in 2011 but since Group Lotus departed from the team and bought a stake in Renault F1 – forming a team ‘Lotus Renault GP’, it seems that Team Lotus is
back to where it started and they might have another tough season.
Both Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli are expected to drive for the team once again in 2011 and since both of them are quite experienced and expect good results from the team, it seems that Jarno Trulli is demanding progress
from Team Lotus in 2011.
“We have improved our organization but we've been racing for one year, not 20, we can't even think about fighting with the top teams. My objective is to fight in the midfield and have a chance to score points. I knew that 2010
would be a transition year, but it turned out to be worse than I had expected,” Trulli told the media.
“But I won't accept to have another year like that. I don't like to show badly after a lifetime at the front. I can suffer for one year, but I can't for another one,” he added. “It [2011] can hardly be tougher than 2010, but the
rules have changed: even Red Bull, who had a great car, doesn't know whether it can repeat its success.”
Trulli, in his 14-year career, has raced for a number of teams including Minardi, Renault, Prost, Jordan and Toyota but this was one of his worst seasons in the sport. He was also quite critical of the changes made in F1 regulations
by the FIA.
“There have been too many changes: from aerodynamics to tyres, to KERS. That's something we won't be able to afford: it costs a fortune and it's totally useless, it's nonsense. They talk about saving money, but every year the regulations
change, people don't understand and the spectacle gets worse,” he said.
